A Heartfelt Birthday

Quite frankly, receiving outrageous amounts of love on your birthday is THE BEST and everyone deserves it. Your birthday boy or girl is starting a brand new year of their life and should feel just as special as they did the year before. If you’re hosting a birthday party this month, we’ve got all the inexpensive, easy, and heartfelt ideas you need to make that big day their best yet!

Heart Cake –

You may think creating a heart-shaped cake sounds daunting, expensive, and impossible. On the contrary, it’s actually very simple. All you need is a box of cake mix (along with the ingredients to be added), 1 square cake pan, 1 round cake pan, frosting, and sprinkles! I found disposable, oven-safe, pans at the Dollar Tree. After mixing the batter, divide it evenly between the round pan and square pan. You can use a scale or just eyeball it. Once the cake is out of the oven and cool, cut the round cake in half and place each half on either side of the square cake (see photos below). Then, decorate as you would like – easy peasy!

‘Heart’y Snacks –

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, heart-shaped cookie cutters are not hard to come by. I found a 3-pack at Target for $1.00 in the dollar section. It was very exciting. I’ve also seen them at nearly every craft store I’ve been in this past week. You can use the cutters to make fun shaped sandwiches, fruit, jello, rice krispie treats, brownies, cheese, summer sausage, pepperonis for fun pizzas… the possibilities are endless!

‘Roses are Red’ Poems –

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue. You are a sweet friend, Happy Birthday to you! This is a perfect way to make your birthday boy or girl feel extra special on their birthday. Have every guest wFullSizeRenderrite a ‘Roses are Red’ poem for the guest of honor. Provide paper and writing utensils and let the love pour in! This is a great alternative to guest bringing presents. It eliminates the pressure guests often feel to find the perfect gift while creating a personal, sweet, and fun activity during the party! String them together after the party and hang it anywhere in the house as a constant reminder that love and fun was had on their birthday.

The Beatles sang it right, “All you need is love”. Couldn’t agree more. As long as your birthday boy or girl feels love on their birthday, everything else will just fall into place. Happy birthday all you love-bug babies!
